Quick answer
Before a modeling trip to China, check the agency, written terms, expenses and work authorisation separately. A portfolio presents the model; it does not replace a contract or permission. Check current rules with official authorities.
Prepare a clear introduction
Gather recent digitals and a concise book selection. Include your name, measurements with units, professional contact and date availability. Ask the specific agency about communication language and file format.
Keep AI concepts separate from real work. Photographs should not imply campaign experience you do not have. Retain originals and a dated card version.
Ask before travelling
Establish who signs the contract, who covers travel and accommodation, which commissions or deductions apply and how payment is settled. Request written terms and time to review them.
Discuss trip length, scheduling, cancellations, insurance and what happens if the arrangement ends. For minors, guardian participation and applicable rules need separate review. Demand for photographs does not itself authorise work.
Use official document sources
China’s government publishes a guide for foreign workers, while Beijing has a dedicated work-permit portal. Use them as starting points for your specific situation with the employer and a qualified adviser.
Requirements depend on location, status and activity. Do not assume a tourist visit allows paid modeling. Check current requirements and your own documents before deciding.
Before sending

Common questions
Does Pola arrange contracts in China?
Not currently. We are preparing visual tools; model-client matching is a separate future stage.
Can I estimate earnings from one offer?
First obtain costs, commissions, guarantees and settlement terms. A headline rate alone is insufficient.
